MINI Cooper Electric Poised For July 6 Launch

Get ready to embrace electrifying mobility with the MINI Cooper Electric, set for an official launch on July 6. Unveiled at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show, the new model has already garnered attention with its pre-sale price range of RMB 210,000 to RMB 270,000. Production will be handled by Spotlight Automotive, a joint venture between BMW and Great Wall Motor.

Design: A Legacy of Charm

The new MINI Cooper Electric stays true to the brand's iconic design language. Round headlights with LED daytime running rings adorn the front, while a large closed-off grille seamlessly integrates millimeter-wave radar and dual air vents. The exterior comes in a choice of six vibrant colors: Cloud Grey, Polar White, British Racing Green, Bennikin Yellow, Magic Blue, and Chili Red.

Classic Proportions, Modern Touches

The classic three-door hatchback design remains, complemented by a two-tone exterior and 18-inch dual five-spoke alloy wheels. For those seeking a sportier look, the JCW body kit adds a substantial roof spoiler, JCW badges, and a rear diffuser. Dimensions-wise, the new MINI Cooper Electric measures 3858mm in length, 1756mm in width, and 1458mm in height.

 

Interior: A Blend of Tradition and Technology

Stepping inside reveals a modern yet familiar MINI cabin. The traditional instrument cluster has been replaced by a large HUD display, while a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel takes center stage. A 9.44-inch round OLED display dominates the center console, running the MINI Operating System 9. Physical buttons have been retained for essential controls, while the interior trim features a generous use of eco-friendly materials.

Powertrain: Electrifying Performance

Three powertrain options will be available: the entry-level COOPER E Classic, the COOPER SE Artist, and the COOPER SE Racer. The COOPER E Classic features a 135kW front-mounted single motor paired with a 40.7kWh battery pack, delivering a CLTC-rated range of 456 kilometers. The COOPER SE Artist and COOPER SE Racer share a 160kW front-mounted single motor and a 54.2kWh battery pack, achieving a CLTC-rated range of 452 kilometers and a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds.

 

The MINI Cooper Electric is poised to make a splash in the electric vehicle segment, combining classic MINI styling with modern technology and a fun-to-drive experience.
